Understanding Famine form a Biblical Perspective III

Understanding Famine form a Biblical Perspective III

Bishop Josephat W. Mukemi | 23 July 2023

Bishop Mukemi's sermon focused on God's manifestation in challenging times, using various biblical stories as examples. He emphasized the importance of seeking God's guidance before undertaking major projects, citing Psalms 40 as an illustration of patiently waiting for God's intervention. The story of Naman's healing from leprosy after seeking God through a prophet further highlighted the significance of seeking God's help in times of need. The bishop also discussed the dangers of bitterness and its potential to destroy joy. Using Naomi's story as an example, he encouraged forgiveness as a means of resolving bitterness, even in the face of tragic circumstances. Wisdom and avoiding evil were emphasized through Proverbs 27:12, urging the congregation to wait on God and trust in His ultimate assistance rather than dwelling on their challenges. From Naomi's story, two important lessons were drawn. Firstly, God is the author of our stories, even in the midst of tragedy, and has good plans for us. Naomi's bitter and hopeless situation was turned around as God orchestrated her positive ending through Ruth, who became part of Jesus' lineage. Secondly, God can restore what has been lost, as seen in Joel 2:25. Bishop Mukemi urged the congregation to seek God during difficult times, knowing that He can bring restoration and provide a better future. Bishop Mukemi's message encouraged trust in God during challenges, seeking His help, and waiting patiently for His intervention. Learning from Naomi's story, he reminded the congregation that God is the author of their stories and can bring restoration even in difficult circumstances. Nothing can hinder God's plans, and He can go beyond conventions to fulfill His purposes.
